2010/2011 ANNUAL REPORT:

This Section hosted several outreach receptions/CLE programs, including: “COMAR: Everything You Wanted to Know and Didn’t Know to Ask,” chaired by Wendy Karpel, in December; “Using Nurse Consultants to Enhance Personal Injury and Workers’ Compensation Claims,” chaired by Michael Steinhardt, in March; and an all-day workers’ compensation “Hot Tips” program, to be chaired by Theodore Cornblatt, in May. It also passed new by-laws requiring the appointment of a nomination committee and shortening the terms of directors to two years, to open up Section Council participation to more Section members. The Section will present “The Hazards of Maryland Wrongful Death Law: What is Wrong with this Picture (and How to Fix It)?”, chaired by Judson Lipowitz, at Solo Day at the MSBA Annual Meeting.

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this Section is to promote the objects of the Maryland State Bar Association within the particular fields of negligence, insurance and worker's compensation, and to that end, to further the development of the law of these issues; to stimulate and extend the study of these fields of the law, to cooperate in obtaining legislation and administration in all matters concerning negligence, insurance and worker's compensation, and to simplify and improve the application of justice in these fields of the Law.
