This Committee surveyed judges, attorneys and
court employees in 2000 to study changes in attitudes, perceptions and
experiences that have occurred as a result of the educational and other
efforts it has undertaken over the past ten years. In addition, the survey
included questions directed to perceptions of ethnic and racial bias within
the court system. The Committee analyzed the statistical data in the survey
responses, compiled the results and issued "The Retrospective Study" in last
fall. It is now examining the existing resources for education of the bench
and the bar in the areas identified in the report, working with the General
Assembly on recommended legislative changes and developing strategies to
implement other recommendations. |
